May 20th – a day of love, carrying even greater responsibility and commitment in the medical world: International Clinical Trials Day.
On May 20, 1747, James Lind, a Scottish naval surgeon, conducted the first controlled clinical trial for scurvy, pioneering modern clinical research. In 2005, the European Clinical Research Infrastructures Network (ECRIN), together with multiple countries, designated this day as International Clinical Trials Day.
As core scientific research in new drug development, clinical trials verify the efficacy and safety of candidate drugs in human bodies, serving as an essential driving force for medical progress and diagnostic and therapeutic innovation. They embody medical professionals’ reverence for life and dedication to healthcare, as well as trial volunteers’ selfless devotion and earnest pursuit of health.
On this 22nd International Clinical Trials Day, we pay our sincerest tribute to all clinical researchers and trial volunteers. Every effort joins together to form powerful strength in the fight against diseases.
The development of every new drug is an arduous and persistent journey. Early research teams screen out merely 0.5% to 1% of candidate molecules with ideal targeting performance and remarkable bioactivity from countless alternatives. Teams engaged in CMC, translational medicine, drug registration and clinical research tackle key technical hurdles including pharmacological mechanism verification, animal experiments, formulation development and registration application. In the end, only about half of all candidate drugs can move forward to clinical trials.
After more than a decade of unwavering dedication, Alphamab Oncology has built an innovative drug pipeline with best‑in‑class (BIC) and first‑in‑class (FIC) potential, leveraging its proprietary global‑leading technology platforms. Its single‑domain antibodies and bispecific antibodies have achieved excellent clinical data and have been commercialized/to be commercialized as first‑in‑class drugs. Next‑generation ADC candidates, including bispecific antibody‑drug conjugates (ADCs) and bispecific dual‑payload ADCs, are advancing steadily, with some already in pivotal registration studies.
Our clinical footprint spans China and the world: we have established clinical offices in over 20 cities across China, covering more than 200 clinical research centers; we also operate more than 10 clinical research centers in countries and regions such as the United States and Australia, bringing Chinese innovative drugs to the global stage. To date, the company has initiated over 60 clinical trials, with more than 5,000 participants involved – their courage and trust supporting the clinical development of cutting‑edge anti‑tumor drugs and lighting up hope for more patients.
Guided by an open and collaborative philosophy, Alphamab Oncology actively partners with multinational pharmaceutical companies, regional leading drugmakers, and top academic experts worldwide, deepening industry‑academia‑research‑medical collaborations to bring innovative results faster and more broadly to patients. Looking ahead, we will continue to renew our innovation pipeline, advancing 1–2 new molecules into preclinical research each year, 1–2 new candidates into clinical trials, and new drugs or new indications to market.
Putting patients first and prioritizing clinical value is our everlasting original aspiration. On this warm May 20th filled with love, Alphamab Oncology conveys its sincere commitment via technological innovation: enabling cancer patients to achieve long-term high-quality survival.
